USC vs UCLA Dual Meet Preview

The USC vs UCLA Dual Meet started back in 1934 with USC winning the first 32 meetings. The men's series wins sits at USC 47 to UCLA 43 with the Trojans appearing set to add another win this year behind its sprints-loaded team.

The women's series started in 1984 and the Bruins lead there 22-18 over USC. This year's battle may come down to the final event.

In the Track Events:

Both USC's 400m relay teams have run faster than the meet record. Mia Kane has run faster than the women's steelechase record. USC Junior Dajaz Defrand has run 10.94 in the 100m, well ahead of the meet record of 11.09. She has also run under the meet record (22.71) in the 200m with a time of 22.34.

Olivia Foody of UCLA has a season's best 15 seconds better than the meet record in the 3000m.

USC men's 1600m relay team comes into the meet having run 3:02.29. The meet record in that event has stood for 45 years at 3:03.47. In an event that might decide the winner on the women's side, both school's teams have run under the meet record in the 1600m relay.

In the Field Events:

Katerina Adamiec and her UCLA teammate Ka'Leila Abrille both have pole vault marks higher than the meet record. Jana van Schalkwyk has tossed the javelin almost 10 feet further than the current meet record. USC's Junior JC Stevenson is just a couple inches off the meet record in the men's long jump that has stood since 1973, held by James McAlister.
