HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's cross country team opens postseason competition on Friday, Oct. 31, when it hosts the Big West Championship at 7:30 a.m. HT. The Rainbow Wahine will compete for the conference title in a 6k race at Kapi'olani Park.
The meet will begin with the men's 8k race at 7:30 a.m. HT, followed by the women's 6k race at 8:30 a.m. HT. The awards ceremony will follow the competition at 9:30 a.m. HT and the event is free and open to the public.
UH is coming off a solid regular season finale placing seventh at the Highlander Invitational. A pair of 'Bows placed in the top 20 led by Emilie Kirk Langschwager who came in 17th with a time of 20:57.1, while Zola O'Donnell also landed in the top 20 with a 20th place finish in 21:03.7.
Lucy Becker turned in a strong finish, placing 47th with a 6k personal best time of 21:33.2. Harriet Greentree also delivered a strong performance turning in a 6k season best with a time of 22:09.0 to place 84th, while Kira Moe also delivered a PR with a time of 22:23.8, finishing 106th to finish off Hawai'i scorers.
Following the Big West Championships, the 'Bows will turn their attention to the NCAA West Regional, set for Nov. 14 in Sacramento, Calif.
