EASTVALE, Calif. -- 2025 Roosey Relays Recap: A Day of Teamwork and Individual Prowess
The unique format of the Roosey Relays, held Saturday at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, provided a thrilling start to the season with both team-oriented relays and individual races.
Roosey Relays Team Results
Boys Varsity 5x2400m Race
Eleanor Roosevelt’s squad of Elijah Brush, Jose Flores, Andrew Glenny, Luke Lopez and Sushanth Sashikumar dominated the boys varsity relay, winning with a time of 37:29.51. Murrieta Valley secured the runner-up spot in 38:57.84, with Norte Vista rounding out the top three in 39:53.84.
Girls Varsity 5x2400m Race
The Murrieta Valley girls varsity team, which consisted of Arielle Avina, Addison Ballou, Jimena Garcia, Sophia Smith and Sierra Vaughan, emerged victorious, claiming the relay title in a time of 43:57.91. Eleanor Roosevelt's "A" team was the runner-up, crossing the finish line in 46:55.34, followed by Eleanor Roosevelt’s "B" team in third at 51:17.20.
Roosey Relays Individuals’ Race Results
Mixed 2400m Run Open/Alumni Race
Sebastian Dorado was the clear champion, winning in a time of 9:06.75 and besting the rest of the field by over 30 seconds.
Boys 2400m Frosh/Soph Race
In a thrilling finish, Nathan Hernandez from Eleanor Roosevelt secured the win in 8:03.59, narrowly edging out Noah Hayes from Murrieta Valley by less than a second (8:04.20).
Girls 2400m Frosh/Soph Race
Nighthawk Freshman Haylee Flores stormed to a champion-worthy performance, finishing in a blazing time of 9:45.65. Her win was by a commanding margin, more than 20 seconds ahead of runner-up Allison Gao (10:07.23) for the Mustangs.
Boys 2400m Junior Varsity Race
Eleanor Roosevelt's Jason Hernandez claimed the boys JV title with a time of 8:16.88. He was closely followed by teammate Seth Castillo, who finished in 8:17.25.
Girls 2400m Junior Varsity Race
Mya Cepeda of the Nighthawks was the champion of the girls JV race, running an impressive 8:46.52. Her dominant performance led to a win by over 90 seconds, with runner-up Zoe Zavala from San Jacinto Leadership Academy finishing in 10:21.95.
